Deck overview

This deck centers on Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos, leveraging its unique forced-combat mechanic to turn opposing turns into lethal commander damage. Because Alexios untaps, gains a +1/+1 counter, and attacks on each player's combat phase while being immune to sacrifice, it applies 4 combats worth of pressure every turn cycle. The 99 supports this strategy with a dense suite of Equipment providing evasion, double strike, and stat buffs, ensuring Alexios punches through blockers regardless of who controls it. However, the deck is entirely dependent on its commander. It lacks dedicated equipment tutors, meaning it relies on natural draws and rummaging to find hexproof or indestructible effects. Opponents have numerous windows across four combats each rotation to answer Alexios with spot removal, bounce, or deathtouch blockers. Without Alexios, the deck slows down substantially, making it a high-tempo, combat-focused Voltron strategy.
