Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and focuses on Insect tribal synergy, self-mill, and graveyard land recursion. The primary game plan develops mana rapidly through ramp spells and extra land drops from Burgeoning or Azusa, Lost but Seeking, casting Zask on turn 5. Once Zask is in play, the graveyard becomes a second hand, allowing the player to replay sacrificed fetchlands and recur Insect creatures. On turn 6, the deck converts this resource engine into a massive swarm using Scute Swarm, Springheart Nantuko, Aatchik, Emerald Radian, or Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. It closes the game on turn 7 by overwhelming the table with combat damage bolstered by trample from Giant Ankheg or direct drain from Fumulus, the Infestation. The deck exhibits high resilience against single-target removal thanks to Zask's tuck-and-mill trigger, though it remains vulnerable to exile-based board wipes and dedicated graveyard hate.
