Deck overview

This deck is a classic Azorius control and stax list commanded by Ith, High Arcanist. Its strategy centers on slowing down opposing game plans using an array of mana taxes, attack deterrents, and upkeep costs. Early turns focus on deploying cards like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Sphere of Resistance, and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV to restrict spell casting, while Propaganda and Pendrell Mists keep creature combat in check. However, the deck suffers from major structural bottlenecks. It runs almost no dedicated ramp or card-drawing engines, meaning it frequently plays at top-deck parity under its own symmetrical taxes.
