(Ozai) I am the Melon Lord! [Bracket 2] by 1d10syncracy

Format: Commander

Commander: Ozai, the Phoenix King

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "Firebending" combat deck that converts attack triggers into mana and spends that mana mid-combat to chain pumps, Lessons, and card flow. Ozai, the Phoenix King is the face of the plan: a hasty 7/7 trampler whose firebending 4 produces red mana the turn he attacks, gaining flying and indestructible whenever you float six or more mana. The 99 is built around a dense package of firebending attackers, 13 Lesson cards, and trigger-multiplying payoffs - Firebender Ascension copies attack triggers once it collects four quest counters, Sozin's Comet grants firebending 5 to the whole team, and Avatar Roku, Firebender adds six red every combat. The deck wins through alpha strikes amplified by Overwhelming Victory, Run Amok, How to Start a Riot, and Fists of Flame, with Lo and Li, Twin Tutors and Ran and Shaw knitting the Lesson package together. There are no infinite combos; the deck grinds incremental combat advantage into a table kill.
