Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats and attrition deck is commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, an 8-mana finisher that provides recursive protection for dying nontoken creatures. The core engine functions independently of the commander by deploying low-cost sacrifice outlets such as Warren Soultrader and Ayara, First of Locthwain alongside self-recurring creatures like Gravecrawler and Reassembling Skeleton. Assembled around Turn 4, the deck generates steady card draw and Treasure tokens while suppressing opposing boards with asymmetric edicts like Archfiend of Depravity and sweepers like Toxic Deluge. On Turn 7, the deck reaches critical onset through explosive devotion drains with Gray Merchant of Asphodel or table-wide mill damage with Syr Konrad, the Grim, concluding the game within two turn cycles on Turn 9. While resilient against targeted creature removal due to deep graveyard recursion, the deck is vulnerable to graveyard exile and lacks answers to noncreature permanents.
