Deck overview

This mono-black deck blends classic aristocrats sacrifice mechanics with relentless edict control. Helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, the list aims to dominate the board by forcing all players to sacrifice creatures repeatedly while breaking parity through death triggers and end-step resurrection. Early turns focus on ramping, establishing disposable fodder like Bloodghast and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and dropping sacrifice outlets such as Warren Soultrader and Ashnod's Altar. By the midgame, the deck deploys heavy attrition pieces like Dictate of Erebos, Tergrid, God of Fright, and Braids, Cabal Minion to strip opponents of creatures and resources. Victory is achieved through sustained life drain from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, culminating in massive life swings from Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Bolas's Citadel loops.
