Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Stax and Life Drain Combo list commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary strategy slows down opposing game plans using dense early hatebears such as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Drannith Magistrate, Archon of Emeria, and Dauthi Voidwalker. Once the table's velocity is throttled, Liesa, Shroud of Dusk enters the battlefield to tax every spell cast for 2 life while applying aerial lifelink combat pressure. Because Liesa pays life instead of mana for commander tax, the deck maintains persistent board presence through removal. The deck closes games decisively on Turn 5 by assembling deterministic infinite drain combos, most notably Exquisite Blood paired with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Bloodthirsty Conqueror, or Sanguine Bond, as well as Bloodchief Ascension with Mindcrank. Protection pieces like Grand Abolisher and Silence ensure the winning sequence executes smoothly.
