Deck overview

This deck is a classic Grixis Reanimator build featuring Sauron, Lord of the Rings as an 8-CMC top-end anchor. The primary strategy focuses on using efficient looting spells such as Faithless Looting, Careful Study, and Cathartic Reunion to dump game-ending creatures into the graveyard early. On Turns 3–4, low-cost reanimation spells like Reanimate, Persist, and Victimize cheat these behemoths into play well ahead of curve. The payoff suite combines punishing stax pieces like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and Sheoldred, Whispering One with combat powerhouses like Shard of the Void Dragon and Inferno Titan. While the deck generates crushing asymmetric card and board advantage, its lack of dedicated combo finishes means it closes games through multi-turn combat pressure and mass revival via Living Death. Its primary vulnerabilities include instant-speed graveyard exile and limited countermagic.
