Deck overview

This Orzhov Midrange deck is commanded by Liesa, Forgotten Archangel, leveraging her powerful asymmetric death trigger replacement to simultaneously lock opposing creature-based graveyard strategies and create repeatable end-step recursion for your own forces. The game plan focuses on establishing early mana development and defensive board presences through cards like Authority of the Consuls and Bastion Protector, before resolving Liesa on Turn 5 to dominate creature attrition. Mid-game turns capitalize on incremental life gain and drain engines using Enduring Tenacity, Sanguine Bond, and Marauding Blight-Priest, combined with planeswalker support from Garruk, Veiled Butcher and empowered Jace tokens. The late game converts accumulated life buffers and mana into decisive win conditions through massive drain spells such as Debt to the Deathless, Exsanguinate, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or via combat domination with Ormendahl, Profane Prince. While vulnerable to mass nonland exile and artifact ramp disruption, the deck excels at grinding out creature-heavy tables.
