Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul combat-focused deck helmed by Anzrag, the Quake-Mole. Its core strategy revolves around ramping on Turns 2 and 3 into an early Anzrag on Turn 4, then applying severe combat pressure starting on Turn 5. Anzrag forces opponents into difficult blocking decisions: blocking untaps all attacking creatures and creates additional combat steps, while not blocking rapidly leads to lethal commander damage. The deck supports this aggressive posture with power-boosting equipment like Fireshrieker, combat manipulation such as Roar of Challenge, and standalone backup threats like Terror of the Peaks and Froghemoth. However, the deck operates at casual pacing due to a lack of 0-1 CMC fast mana, minimal instant-speed interaction, and light protection for its 4-toughness commander.
