Deck overview

This Orzhov deck leverages the Background pairing of Safana, Calimport Cutthroat and Far Traveler to generate recurring value through the Initiative mechanic and enter-the-battlefield triggers. By deploying early Initiative creatures, the deck ventures into the Undercity dungeon to secure land ramp, creature buffs, card draw, and direct life loss. Far Traveler sits in the command zone, ensuring that any tapped creature can be flickered at each end step to repeatedly trigger powerful enter-the-battlefield abilities without additional mana investment. Safana, Calimport Cutthroat rewards this plan by providing steady Treasure tokens whenever you maintain the Initiative, accelerating into heavy late-game payoffs like Archon of Cruelty, Luminate Primordial, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The deck controls opposing boards using flexible white and black removal spells while shielding its key pieces with cheap instant-speed flicker effects.
