Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Rakdos Group Slug and Midrange build commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around deploying cheap, continuous damage sources—such as Roiling Vortex, Copper Tablet, Razorkin Needlehead, and Underworld Dreams—that guarantee life loss on each opponent's turn. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, these continuous triggers fuel a massive card advantage and scaling threat engine, drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle and rapidly inflating Valgavoth into a lethal airborne attacker. The deck steadily compresses the table's life totals through action taxes on drawing cards, casting spells, and playing lands. When opponents are weakened, the deck finishes the game through lethal commander combat, explosive draw-punishing bursts with Wheel of Fortune and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, or sustained damage from Pestilence and Pyrohemia. With robust interaction and redirection protection, the deck excels at dictating game pace while punishing greedy opposing engines.
