Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Grixis Lord of the Rings build is a midrange value deck that leans heavily on Sauron, the Dark Lord's amass and card-draw engine. The primary plan is to accumulate +1/+1 counters on a goblin/orc Army, use the Ring tempts to trigger Sauron's discard-to-draw-four, and turn that card advantage into a wide board of Wraiths and huge dragons. Secondary lines use reanimation to cheat out Sauron, Lord of the Rings or Smaug the Magnificent, and treasure synergies with Cavern-Hoard Dragon and There and Back Again. The commander is central but not mandatory; other legendary creatures can close the game if he is answered.
