Deck overview

This Abzan deck blends Phyrexian toxic and corrupted mechanics with an Angel tribal lifegain shell, commanded by Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa. The primary game plan applies early poison counters to opponents using cheap toxic creatures like Skrelv, Defector Mite and Bilious Skulldweller, enabling Ixhel's Corrupted ability on Turn 4 to steal cards from opponents' libraries. In the midgame, the deck leverages proliferate engines such as Bloated Contaminator, Contaminant Grafter, and Vraska, Betrayal's Sting to advance poison totals while deploying high-toughness Angels that stabilize life totals through Righteous Valkyrie and Lyra Dawnbringer. A dedicated protection suite featuring Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, and Flawless Maneuver insulates the board against sweepers. The deck closes games around Turn 8 either by reaching 10 poison counters across the table or through massive combat damage led by Vishgraz, the Doomhive and Archangel of Thune.
