Deck overview

This Simic deck centers on Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief, turning single-target spells into doubled board presence and card flow. The primary game plan involves establishing a low-cost companion creature alongside Ivy, then targeting that creature with low-mana Auras and Mutate spells. Ivy triggers on cast, creating an exact copy of the Aura or Mutate spell targeting herself. This doubles every buff, cantrip, and trigger. Drawing cards via Curiosity, Combat Research, and Setessan Champion, the deck quickly builds overwhelming velocity. By Turn 5, explosive stat multipliers like Ancestral Mask, Auramancer's Guise, and Nerd Rage or poison pressure from Venerated Rotpriest turn both Ivy and her companion into lethal threats. The deck protects its twin threats using 1-mana protection spells like Tamiyo's Safekeeping and Blossoming Defense, which Ivy copies to shield both creatures simultaneously for a single green mana. It systematically closes games through rapid evasive combat damage by Turn 7.
