Deck overview

Blech, Loafing Pest heads a Golgari midrange strategy that unites Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders into an escalating swarm. The deck pairs low-cost lifegain enablers like Essence Warden and Kazandu Nectarpot with prolific token generators like Scute Swarm, Iridescent Hornbeetle, and Beledros Witherbloom. Each lifegain trigger activates Blech to place +1/+1 counters across your entire tribal army, rapidly inflating small tokens into formidable attackers. Counter amplifiers such as Corpsejack Menace and Doubling Season accelerate this scaling, while Dictate of Erebos turns disposable tokens into repeatable creature control. The deck closes games around Turn 7 or 8 by trampling through defenses with Craterhoof Behemoth or overwhelming opponents with massive combat swings. Alternatively, it can execute an infinite life-drain loop with Exquisite Blood and Starscape Cleric. Defensive tools like Heroic Intervention and Inspiring Call safeguard the board against destruction wipes, making this a resilient and synergistic swarm engine.
