Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by The Serpent Society, a deathtouch-centric commander that turns creature trades into asymmetric board clears while punishing single-target removal with its lethal 5-poison ward. The deck accelerates in the opening turns with efficient 1- and 2-drop deathtouch creatures and low-cost ramp spells like Farseek, Nature's Lore, and Three Visits. Once The Serpent Society enters on Turn 3, opposing creature combat grinds to a halt under the threat of forced nontoken sacrifices. The deck converts this defensive lock into offensive momentum using scaling damage engines such as Aveline de Grandpré, Vraska, Swarm's Eminence, and White Widow, Yelena Belova, or rapid poison kills via Fynn, the Fangbearer. Resilient card flow from Guardian Project, Phyrexian Arena, and Shadow, Mysterious Assassin maintains resource parity, while asymmetric tools like The Darkness Crystal and Dictate of Erebos choke opposing development. The deck steadily dismantles opposing boards before overwhelming the table through combat.
