Deck overview

The deck is a Phenax mill-control build that uses the commander's tap ability to convert high-toughness creatures into repeatable library depletion. Tree of Perdition, Charix, and Consuming Aberration are the primary mill weapons, while Bruvac acts as a hidden combo commander by doubling all mill events. Secondary wins include Bruvac plus kicked Maddening Cacophony, an Eater of the Dead/Phenax infinite untap loop, and a Bloodchief Ascension/Mindcrank life-loss engine. A dense tutor package and free counterspells both assemble and protect these lines. Phenax matters for the main grind plan, but the deck has several commander-independent combo kills, so it remains functional even if he is kept off the battlefield.
