Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Meren of Clan Nel Toth and blends traditional Aristocrats sacrifice loops with a dedicated -1/-1 counter attrition subtheme. It focuses on developing an early mana base, sacrificing utility creatures to accumulate experience counters, and deploying Meren on Turn 4 to generate continuous graveyard value. By Turn 5 to 6, it locks opposing creature strategies using Grave Pact, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, and wide -1/-1 counter spread from Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Nest of Scarabs. The deck steadily drains all opponents via Blood Artist, Bastion of Remembrance, and Obelisk Spider, concluding the game around Turn 8. Its main limitations stem from a vulnerability to targeted graveyard hate and a near-total absence of stack interaction or protective shielding spells.
