Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron-control strategy built around Zenos yae Galvus // Shinryu, Transcendent Rival. By utilizing Zenos's enter-the-battlefield trigger and a dense suite of low-cost removal, the deck reliably transforms its commander into Shinryu, an 8/8 flying Dragon with the Burning Chains ability: when a chosen opponent loses the game, you win the game. This transforms a four-player multiplayer match into a focused duel, reducing the deck's required damage output from 120 total life down to a single player's elimination. The 99 supports this plan through efficient removal, board sweepers, and protective equipment such as Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak, and Champion's Helm. Once Shinryu is equipped with power amplifiers like Blackblade Reforged, Lashwrithe, or lethal enablers like Tainted Strike and Vorpal Sword, the deck eliminates the target player in two combat swings, securing a table victory by Turn 7.
