Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan toughness-matters combat midrange deck led by Felothar the Steadfast. The strategy revolves around deploying cheap, high-toughness defender creatures during the early turns to build an impenetrable defense and generate mana via engines like Overgrown Battlement and Axebane Guardian. Once Felothar enters the battlefield on Turn 4, it fundamentally alters combat by allowing defenders to attack and assign damage equal to their toughness. Felothar also doubles as an exceptional draw engine, sacrificing high-toughness, zero-power walls to draw massive hands at negligible card discard costs.
