Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is commanded by Smaug, Wicked Worm, operating as an artifact-token midrange strategy that blends elements from The Lord of the Rings and Marvel Runaways sets. The primary game plan revolves around deploying Smaug to stockpile Treasure tokens scaled against opposing artifacts, subsequently converting those Treasures into card velocity whenever spells are cast. Mid-game turns focus on establishing token generation engines through amass mechanics and Goblin production, leveraging payoffs like Mirkwood Bats, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and Devilish Valet to drain opponents or execute high-damage combat steps. The deck is balanced with a high basic land count and targeted burn removal, prioritizing incremental value and board presence over explosive combo finishes. While resilient in casual multiplayer settings due to strong top-end threats like Inferno Titan and The Balrog, Durin's Bane, it remains vulnerable to prolonged board stall and lacks stack interaction against fast combo strategies.
