Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir graveyard, copy, and reanimation strategy led by Lazav, Wearer of Faces. The primary plan uses cheap self-mill and discard spells to load the graveyard with high-cost creature threats such as Toxrill, the Corrosive, Grave Titan, and Ulamog's Crusher. Lazav attacks on Turn 4 to exile these targets and investigate, then sacrifices Clue tokens for {2} mana to turn into copies of those threats. On Turn 5, Lazav creates a must-answer state by copying overwhelming creatures that wipe opposing boards or create armies of tokens. The deck backs up this plan with traditional reanimation spells like Zombify and Necromantic Summons, alongside efficient Dimir interaction including Snuff Out, Dismember, and Counterspell. With only 28 lands, the deck prioritizes tight mana management, closing out games over multiple combat steps by Turn 8.
