Talion, you play I draw | cEDH [Primer] by Forcebender

Format: Commander

Commander: Talion, the Kindly Lord

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This is a Dimir control-combo deck helmed by Talion, the Kindly Lord, built to grind card advantage while holding the stack hostage. The primary win condition is the classic Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact line, which the deck's dense tutor suite assembles quickly. Secondary paths include a Notion Thief + Timetwister wheel-lock that draws the deck, and incremental drain from Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Orcish Bowmasters, and Bloodchief Ascension. The deck plays a draw-go game: deploy premium engines like Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora, answer everything with 18 counterspells and 8 free spells, then win through a protected Oracle. Stax pieces like Grafdigger's Cage, Cursed Totem, and Opposition Agent are asymmetric - they slow opponents without touching the deck's own lines. Talion provides steady repeatable card draw and incidental life loss, making him a strong but replaceable value engine.
