Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, Lord of the Rings

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This Grixis Sauron deck is a midrange reanimator-amass build. The primary plan is to ramp into Sauron, Lord of the Rings, use his cast trigger to amass an Orc Army and return a payoff from the graveyard, then close with trampling commander damage. Secondary paths include Saruman the White and Mirkwood Bats token generation, Witch-king/Wraith attacks, and Sauron, the Necromancer acting as a hidden commander that creates repeatable token copies. Court of Ire, Sudden Impact, and burn provide reach. The commander is the main engine and 9/9 beater, but the 99 has enough amass payoffs and standalone legends that the deck can keep playing if Sauron is answered. It is a slow, combat-oriented deck with no compact combo finish.
