Deck overview

This Golgari deck helmed by Meren of Clan Nel Toth executes a resilient graveyard aristocrats and attrition strategy. The primary plan develops mana velocity on early turns using efficient ramp like Sol Ring, Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Talisman of Resilience before deploying Meren on Turn 3 or 4. Once assembled, the deck establishes an oppressive creature-denial loop by recurring edict creatures such as Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder at every end step. This asymmetric attrition depletes opposing boards while accumulating experience counters and fueling draw engines like Midnight Reaper and Morbid Opportunist. The game closes around Turn 8 through recurring burst drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, mass reanimation via Living Death, or continuous aristocrat bleed from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. While the deck possesses great recursive resilience and broad permanent removal, it remains vulnerable to targeted graveyard exile and lacks stack-based countermagic.
