kotis hybrid by wacky

Format: Commander

Commander: Kotis, the Fangkeeper

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Sultai midrange deck helmed by Kotis, the Fangkeeper weaponizes combat damage into free spellcasting. Kotis is an indestructible 2/1 that exiles the top X of a damaged opponent's library and lets you cast spells from among them for free-turning every successful swing into a cascade of stolen value. The 99 supports him with a dense +1/+1-counter package (Hardened Scales, Ouroboroid, The Ozolith), a full mutate suite that stacks keywords and ETB/mutate triggers onto non-Humans (including Kotis himself), and clone effects (Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, Spark Double) that multiply the commander's trigger. Evasion from Cover of Darkness and Filth plus go-wide engines like Scute Swarm and Bitterblossom create secondary combat clocks. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through overwhelming combat and the card advantage Kotis steals. Protection is deep, recursion is real, and the plan is resilient midrange value rather than a glass-cannon combo turn.
