Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black aristocrats attrition engine commanded by Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER. The primary strategy deploys cheap recursive fodder like Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, and Ophiomancer, then casts Sephiroth on Turn 3. On Turn 4, sacrificing creatures through combat and efficient edicts triggers four creature deaths in a single turn. This transforms Sephiroth into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel and grants the permanent Super Nova emblem. Once transformed, Sephiroth converts attacks into massive card draw while the emblem and complementary drain engines—including Blood Artist, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and The Meathook Massacre—steadily deplete opponents' life totals. The deck backs up this attrition with high-tempo creature removal like Deadly Rollick and Sheoldred's Edict. While vulnerable to exile sweepers and lacking enchantment removal, the deck maintains resilience through recurring graveyard threats and burst finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Syr Konrad, the Grim, reliably closing games on Turn 7.
