Lord of the Rings by user5963887

Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

A Grixis Amass deck built around Sauron, the Dark Lord. The main plan is to grow one Orc Army with +1/+1 counters, let Saruman, the White Hand double every amass trigger, and close with Assault on Osgiliath's double strike plus Scourge of the Throne's extra combat. Sauron's role is a late-game engine: his Ward taxes removal, opponent casts grow the Army, and Army combat damage triggers Ring temptation to discard a dead hand and draw four. Secondary paths include Wraith tokens from Lord of the Nazgul and In the Darkness Bind Them, and reanimation of Sauron, Lord of the Rings or Scourge. There is no hidden or double-faced commander; the deck is built around the single face of Sauron, the Dark Lord.
