Deck overview

This Grixis control/reanimator deck is helmed by Sauron, the Dark Lord, who provides a potent card-advantage engine when the Ring tempts you. The primary game plan involves controlling the board with sacrifice effects (Dictate of Erebos, Sheoldred, Whispering One, Braids, Arisen Nightmare), looting to fill the graveyard, and then reanimating game-ending threats like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, It That Betrays, and Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. The deck also runs Torment of Hailfire as an alternative win condition fueled by treasure tokens from cards like Revel in Riches and Unexpected Windfall. Combat damage from Army tokens or big evasive creatures is the fallback, with Scourge of the Throne providing an extra combat step. Synergy between discard outlets and reanimation spells creates a resilient midrange engine that can grind out value until a powerful finisher resolves.
