Deck overview

This Boros deck is an aggressive Voltron strategy centered on Lightning, Army of One. Lightning combines first strike, trample, and lifelink with the Stagger mechanic, which doubles all damage dealt to a player after she hits them in combat. By pairing Lightning with double strike enablers such as Duelist's Heritage and Hard-Won Jitte, the first strike damage trigger enables double damage on the regular combat strike, quickly scaling commander damage into single-hit eliminations. The deck supports this aggressive core with dedicated equipment tutors, cost reducers, and high-impact auras like All That Glitters. Alternate legendary carriers such as Cloud, Midgar Mercenary and Adelbert Steiner provide reliable backup threats if the commander faces targeted removal. While the deck applies rapid life total pressure, it remains vulnerable to instant-speed spot removal and mass board wipes that bypass combat steps.
