Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari midrange strategy centered on Blech, Loafing Pest. The game plan revolves around casting early ramp to deploy Blech on turn 3, followed by establishing steady lifegain triggers and typal token generation. Whenever you gain life, Blech distributes +1/+1 counters to all Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders on your battlefield. Cards like Scute Swarm, Iridescent Hornbeetle, and Tend the Pests flood the board with eligible creatures, while amplifiers like Hardened Scales and Branching Evolution accelerate power growth exponentially. The deck converts this mass of counters into victory through combat evasion enablers like Kodama of the West Tree and Duskshell Crawler, or by directly draining opponents with Enduring Tenacity and Starscape Cleric. Resilient protection spells and counter-retention artifacts ensure the swarm sustains pressure through opposing interaction.
