Deck overview

This Sultai deck is helmed by Zaxara, the Exemplary and focuses on maximizing mana efficiency through X-cost spells and +1/+1 counter synergies. The early turns prioritize deploying low-cost ramp pieces like Birds of Paradise, Farseek, and Arcane Signet to cast Zaxara on Turn 3. Once active, Zaxara acts as both a two-mana accelerator and a continuous army generator, converting every X-spell into a scalable Hydra token. Mid-game turns leverage scalable draw spells like Pull from Tomorrow and Hydroid Krasis to maintain hand velocity while growing an imposing board. Power doublers such as Unbound Flourishing, Corpsejack Menace, and Kalonian Hydra quickly inflate creature sizes to lethal thresholds, while Garruk's Uprising and Kodama of the West Tree grant crucial trample evasion. The deck closes games around Turn 7 via massive combat swings or an overwhelming Exsanguinate, relying on a suite of flexible X-counterspells and protective equipment to safeguard its key assets.
