Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by The Serpent Society, a legendary creature that imposes a brutal Ward cost of five poison counters while turning every friendly deathtouch creature's death into an asymmetric edict against opponents. The strategy merges aggressive deathtouch tribal pressure with aristocrat attrition. Early turns focus on deploying cheap deathtouch creatures and mana dorks such as Dragon Sniper, Noxious Newt, and Nightshade Dryad. Once the commander enters on Turn 3, sacrifice outlets like Priest of Forgotten Gods, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, and Cauldron of Essence systematically dismantle opposing boards. The deck wins either through rapid poison accumulation via Fynn, the Fangbearer, aristocrat drain via Hooded Blightfang, Poison-Tip Archer, and Blood Artist, or explosive combat scaling with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Aveline de Grandpré. Strong recursion cards like Reanimate and Rise of the Dark Realms provide late-game resilience.
