Deck overview

Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel is the deck's central engine. Its tap ability creates life gain and life loss, then converts the gained life into cards. The deck supports that engine with life-gain payoffs such as Aetherflux Reservoir, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sanguine Bond, Exquisite Blood, Enduring Tenacity, and Marauding Blight-Priest. Its primary finish is Sanguine Bond plus Exquisite Blood. Once both enchantments are on the battlefield, a single opponent life-loss event starts an unbounded loop; Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel is the most reliable self-contained trigger. Ramp from Sol Ring, Mox Diamond, Dark Ritual, and Ancient Tomb can produce strong draws, but access is inconsistent because the combo pieces are singletons and only two direct tutors exist. The deck has solid creature removal and moderate defensive tools, but almost no stack interaction. Its normal game is a turn-9-or-later combo-control plan, with life total used as a resource for cards, tutors, and Toxic Deluge.
