Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Midrange Reanimator build commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages the Lord of the Rings Ring-tempting mechanic through nine copies of Nazgûl, Call of the Ring, and Sauron's Army combat triggers. Sauron generates continuous card velocity by discarding the hand to draw four fresh cards whenever the Ring tempts you. This engine synergizes with Archfiend of Ifnir to place -1/-1 counters on all opposing creatures, wiping enemy boards while loading the graveyard for reanimation spells like Reanimate, Living Death, and Rise of the Dark Realms. Mana ramp from 2-CMC artifacts and Dark Ritual accelerates Sauron onto the battlefield by Turn 4. The deck controls the tempo with cheap counterspells and removal while closing games through massive Wraith combat damage and Terror of the Peaks triggers by Turn 7.
