Commander: Arwen, Mortal Queen

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This Selesnya +1/+1 counters deck helmed by Arwen, Mortal Queen builds a resilient board of incrementally growing creatures. The commander functions as both a protective piece-granting indestructible on demand-and a counter engine, placing +1/+1 and lifelink counters on allies while strengthening herself. The deck's primary path to victory is overwhelming combat damage, often enabled by Overwhelming Stampede or Return of the Wildspeaker turning a modest board into a lethal wave. Backup win conditions include Felidar Sovereign if life totals reach 40, and Zetalpa, Primal Dawn as an evasive finisher. The deck lacks fast combo lines but compensates with density: proliferate effects (Evolution Sage, Grateful Apparition), counter doublers (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution), and repeatable draw engines (Toski, Bearer of Secrets, Colossal Majesty) ensure steady pressure. It is a classic value-midrange strategy that thrives on incremental advantages and can recover from wipes with protection spells like Heroic Intervention and Selfless Spirit.
