Deck overview

The Serpent Society commands a Golgari tribal attrition deck focused on deathtouch creatures, combat pressure, and asymmetric sacrifice triggers. The primary strategy curves out early with inexpensive deathtouch Snakes, followed by deploying the commander on Turn 3. When opposing creatures block or trade with deathtouch attackers, The Serpent Society forces each opponent to sacrifice a nontoken creature, steadily dismantling opposing boards while deterring direct targeting through its Ward - Get five poison counters ability. The deck converts board presence into victory through poison counters from Fynn, the Fangbearer, incremental drain from Hooded Blightfang and South Wind Avatar, or wide combat damage amplified by tribal anthems. While the deck boasts high redundancy among cheap deathtouch bodies and strong defensive deterrents, it suffers from a lack of dedicated ramp, limited instant-speed noncreature interaction, and no mass wipe protection. It excels at punishing creature-heavy battlecruiser tables while gradually grinding down life totals.
