Smaug's Treasure Hoard - V3 by --Six--

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Magnificent plays as a red treasure-ramp and dragon-combat deck. It is not a dedicated engine around Smaug; his upkeep Treasure is the fuel, and his attack trigger turns that fuel into direct damage. The actual hidden commander is Magda, Brazen Outlaw, who can convert five Treasures into a free artifact or dragon and therefore cheats out the key finishers. The primary plan is to accumulate Treasures, set up a 9-mana equipment/extra-combat line with Hellkite Charger and The Reaver Cleaver, then win over one extended combat phase. Backup paths are Hellkite Tyrant's artifact-win condition, Magda-fueled dragon cheat, and a simple red dragon beatdown/alpha attack. The deck is mid-game combo: it wants roughly turn 9, not turn 5.
