Format: Commander

Commander: Alania, Divergent Storm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Alania, Divergent Storm leads a budget Izzet spellslinger deck built around copying powerful first spells of each category. The primary plan is to cast Alania on curve, then chain instant and sorcery cantrips and removal into copies that draw cards and answer threats, while Balmor and Stormcatch Mentor turn spellcasting into a combat clock. Secondary paths use Fire Nation Attacks and Rite of the Raging Storm to make attackers, and Wishing Well or Daring Waverider to replay key spells from the graveyard. The deck is not a combo deck: there is no double-faced or hidden commander, and the Alania + Return the Favor line is not a real loop. It wins by grinding value into a large Banefire or Dragonfly Swarm.
