Deck overview

This Golgari Voltron deck pairs Wilson, Refined Grizzly with the Cultist of the Absolute Background to deploy a fast, elusive combat threat directly from the command zone. Wilson lands on Turn 2, and Cultist enchants him on Turn 3 to create a 5/5 flying, deathtouch, trample, vigilance attacker protected by uncounterability and dual ward taxes. To fuel Cultist's mandatory upkeep sacrifice trigger, the list incorporates a dense suite of recurring token producers like Dreadhorde Invasion, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Black Market Connections. As the game progresses, equipment and aura multipliers such as Blackblade Reforged, Blanchwood Armor, Scepter of Celebration, and Hatred accelerate Wilson into lethal one- or two-hit commander eliminations. Backed by efficient Golgari spot removal, edict attrition from Grave Pact, and low-cost protection spells, the deck maintains steady pressure while preserving a strong defensive perimeter.
