Rats In Your House

Format: Commander

Commander: Vren, the Relentless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Dimir resource-denial attrition deck helmed by Vren, the Relentless. The plan is simple and brutal: force constant creature deaths with a dense edict and sacrifice suite, let Vren exile those corpses, and convert every death into an ever-growing army of self-pumping Rat tokens at each end step. Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and a critical mass of ETB-edict creatures keep the table empty while Vren, Ogre Slumlord, Lord Skitter, Sewer King, and Piper of the Swarm refill your board. Once the Rat swarm is online, Cover of Darkness, Opposition, and tribal finishers like Kindred Dominance or Swarmyard Massacre close the game through combat. There are no infinite combo lines; the deck wins by grinding opponents out of permanents and then overwhelming them with pumped Rats. Vren is the conversion engine that turns denial into board presence, but the 99 still functions as a heavy edict-control shell if he is answered.
