Format: Commander

Commander: Kodama of the West Tree

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-green +1/+1 counters deck helmed by Kodama of the West Tree, built entirely around the "modified" mechanic. Kodama grants trample to modified creatures and turns every successful hit into a Rampant Growth-style land tutor, letting the deck ramp while it beats down. The core plan is to deploy a dense package of counter engines - Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Innkeeper's Talent, The Earth Crystal, Kami of Whispered Hopes, and Bristly Bill, Spine Sower - to grow a board of trampling threats, then close with an alpha strike from Craterhoof Behemoth or Triumph of the Hordes. Defense of the Heart can cheat out Craterhoof Behemoth plus Avenger of Zendikar for a one-shot overrun. This is a midrange stompy build that wins through combat inevitability rather than combos, with a modest interaction suite and a heavy reliance on its commander's ramp engine.
