Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck harnesses the raw power of Smaug the Impenetrable as a resilient, high-impact commander. The core strategy revolves around dealing noncombat damage to Smaug - who is already indestructible - to trigger his ability and generate a flood of Treasure tokens. The deck then converts that mana into game-ending X spells like Exsanguinate and Crackle with Power, or into direct damage drain via Mayhem Devil and Ingenious Artillerist. Redirection effects (Pariah's Shield, Blazing Sunsteel, Brash Taunter) ensure Smaug is constantly taking damage to fuel the engine. Secondary win conditions include Hellkite Tyrant's artifact-count victory, Revel in Riches, and Fiery Emancipation-enhanced damage. The deck is a synergistic, combo-oriented pile that can pivot between explosive treasure bursts and patient incremental drain.
