Deck overview

This mono-black deck pairs Sarevok, Deathbringer with the Background Cultist of the Absolute to build an aggressive Voltron and aristocrats attrition engine. Cultist of the Absolute buffs Sarevok into a lethal 6/7 flying, deathtouch threat with Ward 3 life, while its mandatory upkeep sacrifice ensures that a permanent leaves your battlefield every turn to keep Sarevok's end-step damage from burning you. Opponents who cannot match this permanent turnover take 6 damage on their own end steps, accelerating their clock alongside Sarevok's evasive combat swings. The 99 supports this core with recursive sacrifice fodder like Gravecrawler and Reassembling Skeleton, mana engines like Cabal Coffers, and classic aristocrat drain payoffs such as Syr Konrad, the Grim, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and Falkenrath Noble. The deck excels at grinding down opposing life totals through unavoidable passive damage while maintaining a threatening aerial presence.
