B3 Kaalia by user5445749

Format: Commander

Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a focused Mardu beatdown strategy helmed by Kaalia of the Vast, built to cheat out high-cost Angels, Demons, and Dragons during combat. The primary game plan is to resolve Kaalia early, protect her with a handful of cheap instants and equipment, then chain extra combats using Aurelia, the Warleader, Scourge of the Throne, and Bloodthirster to overwhelm opponents with flying threats. The signature combo is Master of Cruelties put into play tapped and attacking via Kaalia-if it goes unblocked, that opponent's life total becomes 1, and any subsequent damage finishes them. Powerful value pieces like Terror of the Peaks, Balefire Dragon, and Smothering Tithe provide reach and inevitability. The deck is aggressive but linear, with limited tutors and recursion; it relies on Kaalia's trigger to deploy its payload and falls back on a handful of protection spells to keep the commander on the battlefield.
