Deck overview

This mono-black deck blends a Lord of the Rings Wraith theme with a reanimator and attrition game plan. Commanded by Sauron, the Necromancer, the deck leverages self-mill and targeted burial spells to place premier high-mana threats like Archon of Cruelty, Valgavoth, Terror Eater, and Grave Titan into the graveyard. Sauron temporarily resurrects these creatures as attacking Wraiths with menace, while cheap spells like Reanimate and Animate Dead return them permanently. In parallel, running nine copies of Nazgûl creates a compounding army that grows rapidly whenever the Ring tempts you. The deck controls the board with asymmetric edicts, targeted removal, and -X/-X sweepers, and finishes tables through heavy combat damage paired with massive life drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Massacre Wurm, and Syr Konrad, the Grim.
