Deck overview

This mono-black attrition deck is commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright, whose triggered ability steals every permanent an opponent discards or sacrifices. The game plan focuses on ramping into Tergrid by Turn 4, then immediately resolving symmetrical discard or sacrifice spells on Turn 5 such as Delirium Skeins, Dark Deal, Plaguecrafter, and Rankle's Prank. Doing so strips opponents of their hands while populating your board with their best creatures and lands. While it lacks competitive fast mana and tutors, its dense functional redundancy ensures reliable engine execution. Opponents are kept in topdeck mode via persistent attrition engines like Bottomless Pit, Necrogen Mists, and Oppression. The clock closes across Turns 6 to 8 through combat damage from stolen permanents alongside discard-drain triggers from Tinybones, Trinket Thief, Megrim, and Liliana's Caress. The deck's primary weaknesses are a vulnerability to instant-speed removal before Tergrid can trigger, a lack of enchantment removal, and reliance on combat to eliminate three opponents.
