Deck overview

Kambal, Consul of Allocation leads an Orzhov life-drain control deck that wants to stretch games out and convert every point of life gained into damage. Kambal taxes every noncreature spell opponents cast, while the 99 is built around life-gain payoff cards like Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Vizkopa Guildmage, and Starscape Cleric. The deck slows the table with Ghostly Prison, Norn's Annex, Crawlspace, No Mercy, and a full suite of Toxic Deluge-style wipes, then closes with a doubled Beacon of Immortality, a massive Exsanguinate, or the alternate win condition Test of Endurance. Secondary packages include Tree of Perdition plus Triskaidekaphobia and Grievous Wound with Unstoppable Slasher. Kambal himself is an accelerant rather than the true engine; the most important pieces all live in the 99.
