Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan midrange build that uses high toughness, lifegain, and +1/+1 counters to trigger Betor, Kin to All. The primary game plan curves out early mana rocks, dorks, and sturdy blockers such as Nyx-Fleece Ram and Turtle-Duck to prepare for the commander's arrival. Once Betor enters on Turn 5, its 7 toughness pairs with earlier permanents to meet the 10-toughness threshold, drawing an extra card each end step. Over subsequent turns, large creatures such as Flourishing Hunter, Ghalta the Immovable, and Flopsie, Bumi's Buddy scale the board to 40 total toughness by Turn 8. This triggers Betor's third ability to cut each opponent's life in half, enabling large trampling attacks to finish players over the next three turn cycles. The deck relies primarily on combat and natural topdecks, making it vulnerable to board wipes and interaction.
